The day was established by the then-Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme. It seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues.
A session held today at FHTS on the topic ‘ Family planning is a human right’. Family planning was globally affirmed to be a human right for the first time in 1968. Session was taken by Archa Misra team member of the FHTS.
During the session she explained “what is family planning?” Her motto was to spread the awareness of birth control and to educate people and influence about family planning measure and methods.69% of population in India is resides in rural area and they are not aware of the term family planning, what are the benefits of family planning, age of marriage and first child birth, spacing between births, methods of contraception. So Archa attempted to educate people regarding these and her sole objective was to to spread the word of mouth to ten other people so that we can bring down the effect of population momentum and reduce population growth.
The aim of the program was not only to achieve population stabilization but also to promote reproductive health and reduce maternal, infant, child mortality and morbidity.
