Adjunct Assistant Professor

Dr. Devesh Oberoi is a public health scientist with a particular interest in the field of prevention and early diagnosis of acute and chronic health conditions. He has over 10 years of experience in health research spanning across India and Australia. Devesh completed his early medical training from Manipal University, India and his PhD in public health from Curtin University, Australia

Devesh was awarded the prestigious International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) and the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) to pursue his PhD. His doctoral research, a mixed-methods study, focused on health seeking and diagnostic pathways of Australian men for colorectal cancer symptoms. Following his PhD, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, on the Victorian Cancer Agency funded IMPROVE project at The Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer, Cancer Council Victoria, Australia.

Devesh has a broad experience across both qualitative and quantitative research paradigms. He has published his research widely and has presented papers in both national and international conferences in India, Australia, Canada and United States. He has also interned with The Lancet, UK. He has a successful record of collaborating with medical oncologists, behavioral cancer researchers, injury epidemiologists, and health researchers from Curtin University, Cancer Council Victoria, University of Melbourne, Monash University and the University of New South Wales on several studies, many of which are published. Devesh is also passionate about teaching and has taught several courses in research methods, public health and health behaviour at Curtin University.
