Dr. Monirul Islam is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology with MBBS/MD from Bangladesh, MPH from Tulane University, LA, and Ph.D. in epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University, OH, USA.
His training and experience in epidemiology and medicine have given the tools and skills to engage effectively in teaching epidemiology and public health courses as well as an effective health outcomes and comparative effectiveness researcher in diverse populations including resource-limited populations. His current research foci are Patient-Centered Outcomes Research in infectious diseases, cancer, and interventions program evaluation. Dr. Islam is particularly interested in early detection and diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of disease, especially infectious diseases and cancer.
The overarching objective of his research is to prevent diseases and lead to better treatment. Dr. Islam has strong teaching experience of epidemiology, designing a professional certificate in infectious disease epidemiology, and record of accomplishment of successful student advising. Collaborations and working with the multi-discipline team is one of his strong fortes. He has the experience in engaging both scientific and non-scientific community members in outcomes research.
