Visiting Faculty

Dr. Ravinder Singh is medical graduate with doctorate training in public health. He is looking after the areas of mental health, disability, rehabilitation and assistive technologies at ICMR Headquarters (Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India), New Delhi. He completed his Ph.D. (Public Health) on Adolescent Stress from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2013. He has experience of more than two decades in research. He is editor of many national and international journals. He is Chairperson of Institutional Ethics Committee of Sudha Rustagi Dental College, Faridabad and member of Institutional Ethics Committee, Padmashree Dr. DY Patil University, Pune.

He has published papers in national and international journals. He is visiting faculty of Khonkaen University, Thailand and World Without Anger, Kathmandu, Nepal. He has delivered hundreds of lectures on various areas and themes of health research.

He has travelled many countries to push the agenda of mental health, disability, rehabilitation and assistive technologies. He has initiated many task force studies in related areas. He is working on positioning the Assistive Technologies in Indian Health System in collaboration with World Health Organisation (WHO) Geneva, WHO-SEARO and WHO-India. He has contributed chapters in many books. He is consultant/expert in Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. He is member of Governing Council and Executive Council of Rehabilitation Council of India. He has developed Courses and written book on Health Communication and Public Health Nutrition. He is currently working on the online platform for exchange of assistive devices for people with disabilities who are not financially sound to afford such technologies. This app is called as XAD-Exchange of Assistive Devices. Another project on which he is working, is to develop an online platform for the employment of persons with disabilities and LGBT-Q communities, called as IEX-Inclusive Employment Exchange. He has prepared Roadmap for Research in Disability under ICMR.

He has contributed Chapters on Geriatrics, Disasters and Mental Health in document on “100 years History of Indian Council of Medical Research (1911-2011)”. He prepared Vision 2020 Documents for Geriatrics and Mental Health. He prepared Five Year Plan Documents for 10th, 11th and 12th Five Year Plans. He prepared Annual Documents of ICMR, MoHFW every year during 2002-2019. He has Chapters in Books viz. Psychopharmacotherapy for Alcoholism: Challenges in Novel approaches. In the Book Alcoholism: Causes, Symptoms, Effects and Treatment edited by Shanwal V.K. Chhikara B.S. Published by Manakin Press, New Delhi. 2017; “Clinical Trials Registry of India: Current Status and Future Prospects; Health Status of Older Persons in India in the Active Ageing in the New Millennium: Edited by Chaudhary Aabha, Anugraha: New Delhi: 2001. Currently, he is editing a book entitled “Recent Advances in Assistive Technologies”.

He was Expert Member of National Mental Health Survey conducted by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. He supported and contributed to the task force projects (i) Panic and Anxiety National Indian Questionnaire (PANIQ), AIIMS, New Delhi; (ii) Epidemiological Survey of Substance Abuse in Punjab, PGIMER, Chandigarh; (iii) Impact of multi-disciplinary intervention on health related quality of life (QOL) in ambulatory older persons; (iv) Determinants of the Functional Status of the Older Persons ; (v) Enhancement of memory in the aged: An intervention study; (vi) Mental health morbidity and service needs in Tsunami affected population in Coastal Tamil Nadu; (vii) Suicide Behaviour; (viii) Mental Health Service Needs and Service Delivery Models in the Disaster Affected Population in Gujarat; (ix) Urban Mental Health Problems and Service Needs.

He has keen interest in various aspects of Stress Management, Positive Psychology, Motivation, Personality Development, Behavioural Sciences. He has conducted various workshops for public sector undertakings on Stress Management and Work Life Balance. He is founding Director of International Institute of Stress Management and Allied Sciences (IISMAAS) under which a Journal has been launched in the name of International Journal of Stress Management and Allied Sciences (IJSMAAS). He was instrumental in International Association of Food and Nutrition Scientists (IAFANS), which has started International Journal of Food and Nutritional Sciences (IJFANS) from the platform of Wolters Kluwer Publishers. He is Trustee of Human Care Foundation Trust and Governing Council member of International Development Centre (IDC) Foundation. He is life member of World NCD Federation.

He has been awarded Distinguished Service Award by Delhi Medical Association. He was awarded for excellent work done by him being an Expert on Empowerment of Persons with Disability during 14th International Hospitality and Tourism Award-2018 at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi.
