Goals:

Currently, I am concentrating on applying to some of the universities in the US for a Master's program in Nutrition Science. I was a little slothful during the lockdown and it was quite challenging to pick a course of my interest and pick the right universities that fit my academic requirements and career objectives. Exhaustive online research helped me ruminate about all the possible career options and choose a path that aligns with my interest. By studying abroad, I feel that I would gain a global perspective about my chosen field as well as receive international learning exposure. In the next year, I see myself pursuing a Master's in Nutrition Science in the US. I would love to take up a thesis work every semester, which would help me dive deeper into my subjects of interest. I would also like to undertake research assistantships that would enable me to work under the mentorship of eminent professors who have invested themselves in research work and publications for the past few decades now. According to me, a research assistantship is a wise academic opportunity since it would qualify me to receive a stipend, which is a privilege for a student.

The path looks a little hazy when I visualize myself three years from now. Nevertheless, I am well aware of a couple of things that would bring a zeal out of me. I would finish with my Master’s and I would love to apply for a Ph.D. in Nutrition and would love to work on cancer foods, functional foods, epigenetics, and superfoods. While a Ph.D. is one of my options, I would love to find out in the next few years if I would be more intrigued to work for a research organization that would provide an opportunity to foster my thinking and analytical skills, and also have my own publications. In any case, I would like to pursue my Ph.D. in the future.

I would also like to work for an NGO or a research institute and contribute to applying medical concepts in alliance with health information systems, by developing methods to measure the levels of malnutrition in various parts of the world. In addition, I wish to do extensive research work to serve underprivileged, malnourished children and cancer patients in India, by coming up with food varieties that are effective, affordable, and accessible. I want to make myself highly capable as a research scientist and leave an indomitable mark in the professional world of nutritional science.
