National Donor Day
As part of an ongoing Swasthya Pahal initiative camp, team members of Foundation Healthcare Technologies Society celebrated Public Health Day on the theme “National Donor Day”. National Donor Day is celebrated on the 14th February every year to spread awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation. This day is also used to recognize people who have received or donated organs to save someone’s life, or those who are waiting for receiving organ or those who died waiting to receive organ transplant. A total of 25 beneficiaries were counseled about importance of organ donation with the help of a poster designed by interns. The poster depicted types of organs and tissues which can be donated. Beneficiaries seemed interested in knowing about the National Donor Day. They were willing to spread the information with others at work place and at home. One of the beneficiary showed his organ donation card as well. Quote from one of the beneficiary “This is my last wish to donate my organs for helping others after my death”.
