Introduction

World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) is a global initiative that takes place annually from the 18 to 24th of November to raise awareness about the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and promote responsible use of antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents. The misuse and overuse of these medications have led to the emergence of drug-resistant strains of bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi, making infections harder to treat and posing a significant risk to public health.

The theme for this year was “Preventing antimicrobial resistance together” as it was in 2022. It’s essential to adapt the themes and activities of World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week based on the evolving challenges and developments in the field of AMR. Foundation of Healthcare Technologies Society’s (FHTS) commemorated this day with a goal to promote awareness, encourage responsible practices, and work collectively to address this critical global health issue and were successful to organize Swasthya Pahal- Health For All Self-Management Camps at a residential setting, Ambedkar Basti, RK Puram which is an urban slum. The conversation at this place was to encourage individuals to take responsibility for their health, follow prescribed treatment plans, and avoid self-medication.
