FHTS Contribution: RISE Initiative

Poverty has a range of socioeconomic dimensions and is not just the lack of income. Though the world’s workers living in extreme poverty has reduced to 7.1% in 2019 from 14.3% in a decade,  there is no guarantee of decent working conditions to one in every five workers globally. COVID-19 tipped millions back into poverty worldwide. The United Nations Development Program is focusing on women by creating conditions where women have skills and resources where they can take care of their own health.Poverty has a range of socioeconomic dimensions and is not just the lack of income. The theme for this year’s International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is Decent work and Social Protection: Putting dignity in practice for all

FHTS is thrilled to contribute to this public health challenge  of poverty through its Initiative RISE.

RISE is an initiative which recognizes the interests and talents of girls growing up in underprivileged settings and women who are less fortunate by providing them an opportunity to become self-reliant through creation of products to have sustained livelihood.

RISE stands for Research, Innovation, Skills and Entrepreneurship. The generation of products is based on the importance of research analysis of creating new products. Recruitment of beneficiaries of this program is not based on their skills. The raw talent is given an opportunity to hone their skills and find innovative ways to create sustained livelihood. RISE is a unique platform which not only prepares less fortunate girls and women but also women who want to dedicate their lives to helping those in need by overcoming their constraints and poor resources.

This initiative is a contribution towards global efforts in eradicating poverty and providing decent work environment with special focus on women by providing them safe secure decent work environment with skills and resources so that they can take care of their own health.
