Conclusion
A total of 30 beneficiaries (4 females) attended the Swasthya Pahal organised on 17th October 2019 at Bhikaji Cama Place Complex, New Delhi. More than one third of the beneficiaries (36.6%) had hypertension (i.e. blood pressure >120mm/Hg) while nearly one fourth of the beneficiaries (23.3%) had random high blood sugar (> 140mg/dL). More than a third of the beneficiaries (36.6%) were overweight/obese (i.e. Body Mass Index > 24.9 kg/m2) and only one tenth of the beneficiaries (13.3%) were engaged in regular physical activity (i.e. at least 4 times in a week). Prevalence of hypertension was higher in males (38.4%) as compared to females (25%) while prevalence of diabetes and overweight/obesity was higher among females (50% and 50% respectively) as compared to males (19.2% and 34.6% respectively). Overall, high prevalence of overweight and obesity, diabetes and hypertension could be due to faulty dietary habits and low physical activity. One tenth of the beneficiaries consumed alcohol and/or smoked cigarette or bidhi (13.3% each).
Additional observations: A few beneficiaries (4-5) were aware of their blood pressure and blood sugar status as they got them checked regularly. They were also physically active and were concerned about their health.
Details of RISE products sold during the camp: Only five participants viewed RISE products, of which 4 were males and 1 was female. Most popular RISE products viewed by male participants were diyas and earrings while pouches and round pouches were more popular among females.
