Dr. Harleen Kaur, a dedicated dental graduate from BJS Dental college Ludhiana , Punjab ,with about more than 1.5 years of experience in the field . Practical experience in public health dentistry and volunteering in tobacco cessation initiatives fueled my passion for community well-being through education and awareness. My goal is to work with government, non-government, and global institutions and to contribute towards the key issues in community health . I am a dedicated dental surgeon with a strong desire to make a positive impact on public health. My proficiency in dentistry and genuine passion for community well-being motivated me to apply for the public health intern position at FHTS. With the aim of promoting oral health and overall wellness, I am excited to contribute my skills and knowledge to improve the health outcomes of the community we serve.

Community Health Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive community health assessment to identify the major health issues and challenges faced by the population. This assessment will form the foundation for designing targeted interventions.
Health Education and Promotion: Develop and implement health education programs that address specific health concerns within the community. These programs may focus on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, sexual health, mental health, global health, women’s health, disease prevention etc.
Environmental Health Initiatives: Develop and implement projects that address environmental health concerns in the community. This could involve initiatives related to air quality, water sanitation, waste management, and other environmental factors that impact public health.
Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze health-related data to monitor the impact of interventions and identify areas that need further attention. Data-driven decision-making is essential for ensuring the effectiveness of public health initiatives. [I helped in data collection in a survey when I volunteered at a tobacco cessation center]
Disease Prevention and Control: Develop strategies for disease prevention and control. This could include organizing vaccination campaigns, promoting regular health screenings, and raising awareness about infectious diseases and their prevention. [Conducted oral screening in schools and dental camps]
I had an enriching experience during my internship with FHTS. Throughout my time with the organization, I had the opportunity to delve into various aspects of public health, honing my skills in the process. I learned about a wide range of public health topics, which not only expanded my knowledge but also fueled my passion for this field. One of the highlights of my internship was the opportunity to write blogs on these topics, enabling me to improve my writing and communication skills. Research became an integral part of my work, where I had to find relevant publications and research articles. This strengthened my research abilities and taught me how to utilize in-text citations effectively. Creating PowerPoint presentations and technical notes allowed me to enhance my visual communication skills and effectively convey complex information. I also gained valuable insights into content development, particularly in designing comprehensive modules. Overall, my internship with FHTS has been a transformative experience. It has equipped me with practical skills and deepened my understanding of the intricacies of public health. I am truly grateful for the opportunities and knowledge I have gained during my time with the organization.
