What is
SMAART®
The health of the population has many contributing factors. For instance, if someone is not financially independent or not able to afford health solutions, how can they maintain their health?
Dr. Ashish Joshi’s research is built around creating culturally adaptive material that allows communities to modify their behavior while keeping their social circumstances in mind.
What is SMAART®?
SMAART® is a human-centric & impact-driven solution with the goal of enhancing the health & well-being of diverse communities across the globe. The SMAART® Model is a framework created to solve real problems with real solutions. This dynamic & flexible approach has been implemented across sectors & circumstances – and will continue to grow and change the lives of many.
How SMAART® was born?
As a child, Dr. Ashish Joshi witnessed deep inequalities in education and healthcare. He aspired to drive a change. His journey as an international public health student in the US sharpened his understanding of global disparities. Guided by his philosophies, beliefs, and expertise, he created SMAART®, a model for bringing real solutions to real problems.
Initially developed to build digital public health interventions, SMAART® soon started building solutions for employment, gender inequality, skill development, and workforce strengthening. To implement these solutions at scale, the Foundation of Healthcare Technologies Society (FHTS) was established in 2012, sowing the seeds of sustained impact.
How does SMAART® work?
SMAART®, employs a “middle-out” approach. This approach is a bridge between a “top-down” and “bottom-up” approach. It allows for data-driven & evidence-based policies to be made based on community participation and engagement. Community involvement is crucial to the SMAART Model.
SMAART® Lab
SMAART® Lab works to address social, economic, and health inequalities across diverse settings. Guided by the SMAART® ideology, it has developed transformative initiatives, programs, projects, and technologies worldwide to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
With both tangible and intangible outcomes, SMAART® Lab continues to expand its outreach to ensure maximum benefit to people everywhere.
SMAART® Lab welcomes partnerships to create a larger, global impact. Join us on this journey to touch lives and build healthier, more equitable communities.
