Nutrition Informatics (NI) focuses on the effective retrieval, organization, storage, and optimum use of information, data, and knowledge for food—and nutrition-related problem-solving and decision-making. I had a wonderful learning experience during my time in the Certificate in Health and Nutrition Informatics at FHTS. The course offered in-depth knowledge in public health and nutrition. I found the sessions to be interactive, well-organised, and relevant to current public health challenges. The lecturers were knowledgeable and cleared out doubts every single time. Nutrition informatics programme has taught me how to write a proper article and a research paper. I recently completed the Health and Nutrition Informatics course offered by FHTS, and it was an excellent learning experience. Taking the Nutrition and Health Informatics course has transformed my life. Not only did I have a better grasp of how technology can help people live healthier lifestyles, but I also learned how to apply these tools in real life. This Health and Nutrition Informatics Course have helped me to gain additional knowledge. I, Sariya Afreen, am a student, pursuing my masters in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad. Recently, I had the privilege of completing a course in health and nutrition informatics and I’m grateful to the team of FHTS for providing me the opportunity.
My journey throughout the course has been very knowledgeable and compelling. It helped me understand the power of combining technology and nutrition in improving the health outcomes of the individuals. All the sessions were incredibly interactive and were a perfect balance of practical and theoretical knowledge. I had the opportunity to learn how to evaluate apps, websites and research papers, use human centred designs and implement behavioural techniques for improving the health of individuals. It helped me understand the process of tailoring diets based on the individual’s need, which is an important component in my field.
The several discussions, assignment, and discussion boards I did as a part of this course helped me gain practical knowledge and understanding of several concepts which I would’ve been oblivious to otherwise. Apart from the technical knowledge I gained through this, I experienced an advancement in my soft skills as well. My communication, confidence and interpersonal skills improved drastically.

I am Suhasini Lanka and have completed my Masters in Public Health from Northumbria University. In this day and age of advancement in technology and healthcare it is best to keep one updated with information. With this thought, I pursued the Certificate in Health and Nutrition Informatics course taught by FHTS. During the program, I learned different concepts from basics of Health informatics, use of electronic health records and human-centered design to the application of research in the sector of healthcare and nutrition. It was a good learning experience and had a supportive faculty.
The certificate program of ‘Health and Nutrition Informatics’ has not only introduced and made it easier to understand the concept of Nutrition Informatics but also made me familiar with the use of technology in the field of nutrition. After completing this course, I have realised the importance of integrating informatics in the nutrition sector as it helps in making decisions faster which, in turn, can aid the dietitians, public health researchers and policymakers deliver quality assistance towards better public health. The course was well structured and each module was very informative. The support from our mentors was always present.
