Summary
The presentation focused on Diabetes and its psycho-social determinants in the paradigm of public health. The presentation elaborated on the various aspects of Diabetes which included its symptoms, types, risk factors with special emphasis on psycho-social determinants like stress, depression, anxiety, lack of knowledge, and poverty. This presentation discussed in detail how psycho-social factors impact individual’s health and predispose them to diabetes, along with the ways how one can stay healthy by avoiding aforesaid risk factors.
The presentation was quite insightful throughout, and engaging towards the end as there was discussion about the myths, the vicious cycle of healthy and happy mind and its biological effects; and its consequences. Overall, it was a profound and thought-provoking Journal Club Session.
